Repairing Divots |
Unless you're lucky enough to be playing with a caddie, you should
also make sure you fix your divots (the little plot of turf that is sometimes
lifted away when you hit your shot).
-
In most cases, fixing a divot simply means walking ahead a few yards to
retrieve it, replacing it in its original location and gently tamping it
down with your foot.
-
In some locations, golf courses will ask that divot holes be filled with
sand or a sand/seed mix that will promote the fast grow-in of new
grass.
-
But in other areas, courses will request that you don't fix divots at all
because of the specialized characteristics of the turfgrass.
Be sure to ask about the local procedure when you're playing at a new
course.
